EWWR 2021: Principality as a model “sustainable community”

As the Principality takes part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) for the third time since 2019, the country is beating records for the number of people signing up, and offering a programme of appealing, incentivising and educational events.

Sixty-nine leaders of institutional, charity and private projects have approached the Department of the Environment to take part in this major European campaign to raise awareness about reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

The week adopted a digital format in 2020 due to the pandemic, but in 2021, events open to the general public are back! The programme is based on the theme of sustainable communities and will run from 21 to 29 November.

EWWR will feature a wide selection of events open to all, including tips on how to be a responsible tourist, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, a treasure hunt and “zero-waste” cooking demonstrations led by Michelin-starred chefs. The aim is to encourage people to consume better, produce better, throw away less and extend the life of their products. See the programme attached to this press release for more information.
