Solutions and Prizes

NL12-ART3-ANNABELLE

The annual Conference of Mission for Energy Transition highlighted existing solutions as well as initiatives and best practices in the 3 fields of mobility, waste and energy in the building.

THE SOLUTIONS ARE OUT THERE – LET’S USE THEM!

The International Energy Agency confirmed in its most recent reports that a 55% reduction in greenhouse gases was achievable by 2030 using available technologies, but that the challenge for the remaining years was to fund and massively develop these technologies... and ultimately to ensure that everyone uses them!

In Monaco, the Government is putting forward solutions at the national level: the deployment of ocean thermal energy loops to heat and cool buildings; smart monitoring for the buildings that consume the most energy; public transport and shared mobility options; support for purchasing electric vehicles; powerful and free electric charging networks; the introduction of returnable containers to combat single use, and more.

It is up to each of us to think about the choices we make regarding our consumption and travel, and to take ownership of them.

During the evening, three representatives from civil society also discussed, from the perspective of their own fields, their visions of the future through potential solutions:

  • Ms Marie-Gisèle Fringant, President of the Junior Chamber International;
  • Ms Virginie Bernard, CSR Director at CFM Indosuez;
  • Mr Gabriel Viora, President of the Association of Architects.

ENERGY TRANSITION PRIZES REWARD EXEMPLARY INITIATIVES

  • Léo de Bruyn for EatIn, a delivery service operated using a fleet of fully electric scooters. EatIn facilitates access to various delivery services in the Principality via zero-carbon, silent scooters, a service much appreciated by Monegasques.

  • Grégory Rougaignon for ICI Salad, and his investment in the MaConsigne project in store, for click & collect and delivery. ICI Salad is one of the most active businesses in terms of its use of returnable containers for takeaway food and the first to offer them for click & collect and delivery. A great commitment to zero waste!

  • Jean-Baptiste Pastor, Chairman of Michel Pastor Group, for MoNa Résidence. A building recognised for its very low energy use, which is perfectly in line with the Mediterranean climate. This private building, featuring high environmental performance, incorporates several innovative facilities, such as deep geothermal energy to cover heating and cooling needs and solar protection to reduce these needs.
