Zero-waste cooking workshop with Ecoslowasting

ecoslowasting

On Saturday 6 February, an online zero-waste cooking workshop was held for all those with a passion for cooking, wellbeing and the environment. The workshop was organised in partnership with Elisa Alberto, founder of the anti-waste platform Ecoslowasting .

Led by a zero-waste professional who is a naturopath by training, the workshop featured two healthy, vegan and gluten-free recipes: a main dish, Green Leek Cannelloni, and a cleansing drink.

During the course of an energetic, constructive and friendly discussion, Elisa offered participants a range of advice on how to avoid food waste, plenty of nutritional information and tips on wellbeing, all in line with the values and promise of our National Pact: specific energy transition actions to reduce waste and prevent greenhouse gas emissions.

Elisa explained the importance of accepting the imperfect fruits and vegetables that are often quickly thrown away and considered as waste the moment a minor blemish is spotted. According to Elisa, it is vital to put our assumptions aside and restore value not just to the product itself but to all of the resources that went into producing it.

The cooking workshop held in partnership with Ecoslowasting highlighted perfectly that the kitchen is an ideal place to start reducing our household waste and taking action to protect the environment.
