Award of certificates for participation in European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) 2020
On Wednesday 20 October, the Department of the Environment held an event in the conference room at the Oceanographic Museum to award certificates for participation in European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) 2020.
The certificates recognised EWWR participants for their efforts to raise awareness about waste reduction during the last week of November.
The Principality joined the EWWR initiative in 2019, with numerous organisations from the private and public sectors taking part.
The event, held on Wednesday last week, provided an opportunity to look back at the last two EWWR and to recontextualise the role of public awareness in government policy. Monaco has an ambitious waste reduction policy, which cannot succeed without the collaboration of all stakeholders and public support for its goals.
A zero-waste breakfast, prepared and donated by certified Responsible Restaurant La Terrasse, extended the official proceedings with a chance to engage in friendly, informal discussion.
The next EWWR will be held from 20 to 28 November 2021, once again coordinated by the Department of the Environment.
