Call for Projects - Participation in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR)

Semaine Européenne de Réduction des Déchets 2021

For the third consecutive year, the Department of the Environment has registered the Principality for the European Week for Waste Reduction, to be held from 20 to 28 November 2021.

This is a European initiative, which invites volunteer countries to promote awareness-raising activities related to the sustainable management of resources and waste.

So, to make this event a success, we are looking for people who can take the lead in organising activities!

Anyone can carry out awareness-raising activities and organise events for the general public or a targeted audience:  colleagues, employees, members of an association, students, etc.

The first such event, in 2019, was a good start;  the health situation in the year 2020 obliged those responsible for the activities to be even more imaginative in order to offer a virtual EWWR, which was widely disseminated on social networks.

The theme proposed for the 2021 event is "Circular Communities," which could be interpreted as "circular communities" or "circular economy networks."  These times of health crisis have reminded us of the importance of human contact and solidarity.  So, this year, the EWWR challenges us to act together and create circular communities, making it possible to reduce waste.

The idea is to think of the "world afterwards," in which collaboration will be key to combating the relentless production of waste.

Of course, all activities are welcome, even those that do not correspond to this year's theme - we would recall here that the activities must be based on the 3 Rs:  Reduce/Reuse/Recycle waste, or must consist of a waste collection operation.

A first information meeting will be held on 15 September at 9 a.m., by video conference;  please contact the Department of the Environment for more information:  environnement@gouv.mc
