The APIdays® Celebrate their 10th Anniversary
In ten years, the APIdays® have become an unmissable, free, festive, fun and educational event that highlights the importance of bees and wild pollinators.
Launched by the National Union of French Beekeeping (UNAF), the APIdays® are part of the national programme "The Bee, Sentinel of the Environment," of which the Principality has been a signatory to the charter since 2011. The APIdays® are an opportunity to organise events in the 130 partner sites, including the Principality of Monaco.
Every year, in June, the Department of Urban Amenities holds an information day, with educational, fun workshops and an exhibition to raise public awareness of bees, wild pollinators and beekeeping.
As every year, several classes from schools in the Principality were invited to be present while honey was harvested from the Monegasque apiary on the roof of the Museum of Philately and Coinage in Fontvieille, and to take part in a variety of awareness-raising workshops.
This year, the exhibition was held in the open air, on the terraces of the UNESCO Garden, to raise awareness among a wider public of the need to take practical measures to protect bees and the development of apiculture.
This 10th event took place recently on the theme of "The Bee – The Best Worker in France" and highlighted the bee's many skills!
