The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR)

The Department of the Environment, coordinator of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) on behalf of the Prince's Government and the European Steering Committee, is pleased to announce that the Principality has, for the fifth time, registered to be part of this awareness-raising week. This 2023 edition will be held from 21 to 26 November and revolves around the theme of 'Packaging'.

As a member of the Steering Committee, the Department of the Environment will be central to the decisions taken in Europe which shape this major event while also forging links with numerous European partners.

The 2023 edition will focus on ‘Packaging’, a subject the Principality is highly committed to, as demonstrated through the ‘zero single-use plastic waste by 2030’ policy.

The European Week for Waste Reduction is open to all public, private, and even personal initiatives that focus on waste reduction, either on this year's theme or any other initiative designed to reduce waste production, such as:

o repairing objects
o upcycling old clothes
o charity collections
o zero waste cooking
o waste collection
o awareness campaigns
o hints and tips for reusing old items etc.

"It's clear that the Principality's EWWR continues to grow with new participants joining each year. In 2022, we were delighted to record 83 initiatives, all brought to fruition through the investment and commitment of 50 dedicated project leaders! So, I'm looking forward to the 2023 EWWR, which looks promising, with many surprises in store.

If you would like to raise awareness about waste by joining those already committed to this important initiative or by volunteering to support an initiative,

 you can register directly on the EWWR platform using this link: https://ewwr.eu/take-part/#action_developer if you are already familiar with the process.

 Or contact the Department of the Environment via email at: environnement@gouv.mc or telephone: 98 98 83 41.
